Faro is not a resort town
A working city, with working-city IT problems
As the district capital, Faro has a year-round business population that the resort towns do not: administration, healthcare, education, professional services and the businesses attached to the airport and port. The seasonal swing is real but far less extreme.
Professional firms
Law, accountancy and consulting practices serving clients across the district, holding confidential material and increasingly being asked to evidence how they protect it.
Clinics and healthcare
Private practices and clinics handling patient data, where access control, encryption and reliable backup are not optional and the obligations are specific.
Agencies and property
Estate agencies, rental managers and the administrative side of the property market, with staff working from phones as much as desks.
International offices
Companies with a Portuguese entity in Faro and management elsewhere, needing local delivery of a group IT standard.
Small businesses
Offices, workshops, shops and studios that need dependable IT without employing anyone to run it.
Multi-site operators
Businesses headquartered in Faro with locations along the coast, managed as one estate rather than several.
What being local actually buys you
Not speed of response. Speed of the things that need hands.
A remote provider answers a ticket just as fast as we do — that part is not about geography. What proximity changes is the small but important set of jobs where someone has to be in the room, and how well a provider understands the place you are operating in.
- Hardware failures replaced in person, same day, rather than couriered
- Cabinet, cabling and network work done properly and labelled
- Wi-Fi surveyed in the actual building, including the old thick-walled ones
- Office moves and fit-outs coordinated with the other trades on site
- A face-to-face service review rather than another video call
- Local suppliers and telecoms dealt with in Portuguese, by us
How we cover Faro
On-site & remoteWe claim one office, in Faro. Everywhere else is a service area — described here as what it actually is, rather than dressed up as a local branch.
Why CaminhoIT
A local company, run to international standards.
Being local is easy to claim and, on its own, not worth much — a one-person operation down the road is local too. What matters is combining it with the things that usually only come from a larger provider: monitoring, documentation, defined escalation, a client portal and security that is part of the service rather than sold after an incident.

Questions
IT support in Faro — common questions
How quickly can you get to us?
Within Faro, the same day for anything urgent, and usually within the hour if the business has genuinely stopped. It is worth saying that most problems never need a visit — remote support fixes them faster than driving would. The visit matters for hardware failures, network work and anything physical.
Can we come to your office?
Yes, by appointment. Consultations happen over Teams, by phone or at our office in Faro, whichever suits you — and for a first conversation we are usually happy to come to you instead, since seeing the setup tells us more than a description does.
Do you only work with businesses in Faro?
No. We attend sites across the Algarve and the Alentejo, and support clients remotely across Portugal and the UK. Faro is where we are based, which makes it the place we can reach quickest, not the limit of who we work with.
Our building is old and the Wi-Fi is patchy. Is that fixable?
Usually, and it is a common problem in the older parts of the city. Thick stone walls stop Wi-Fi far more effectively than most equipment datasheets suggest, so the answer is rarely a more powerful access point — it is more of them, placed from an actual survey rather than from a floor plan, and often some discreet cabling. We measure before quoting.
Do you support home-based and remote staff?
Yes, and it makes no practical difference where they are. Managed devices are configured and supported from the cloud, so a member of staff working from home in Faro, from another district, or from another country gets the same service. Being local is about your site, not about your people.
We only need help occasionally. Do you do that?
We are built around managed IT rather than call-outs, because the preventative work is what stops the expensive days — and it cannot be done between occasional visits. For a very small or very simple business, occasional support is a legitimate choice; we would just rather be honest that it is a different thing, and that nobody is monitoring or testing your backups in between.
Ready to get started?
We are twenty minutes away.
Book a consultation and we will come to you, look at what you have, and tell you honestly what we would change.
