IT support in the Algarve

We are not "covering" the Algarve. We are here.

Our office is in Faro and we attend sites across the region — from Sagres to Vila Real de Santo António. For businesses whose busiest weeks are the ones where nothing can be touched, that proximity matters.

The Algarve business mix

Who we work with here

The regional economy shapes the IT problems. Tourism dominates the calendar, property and construction follow it, and a steady population of international businesses and remote workers sits alongside both.

Local considerations

What is genuinely different about IT here.

These are not marketing points — they are the things that actually change how we plan work in this region, and the reasons a provider from outside it tends to get the timing wrong.

  • The season dictates everything. Nothing structural happens between April and October.
  • Headcount can triple for the summer, so onboarding and offboarding have to be a process rather than a favour.
  • Connectivity varies sharply by building, and rural and coastal sites are not the same as Faro.
  • Buildings are frequently old, thick-walled and listed, which makes Wi-Fi a survey job rather than a guess.
  • A large share of businesses operate in English, Portuguese or both, often within the same team.
  • Sites are spread along 150km of coast, so on-site visits are planned rather than improvised.

We claim one office, in Faro. Everywhere else is a service area — described here as what it actually is, rather than dressed up as a local branch.

Where we work

Across the region, east to west.

  1. Central Algarve

Faro, Loulé, Almancil, Quarteira and Vilamoura — where our office is and where most on-site work happens.

  2. Western Algarve

Albufeira, Portimão, Lagoa, Lagos and out towards Sagres. Regularly attended, planned in advance.

  3. Eastern Algarve

Olhão, Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António and the surrounding towns.

  4. Inland & serra

Silves, São Brás, Monchique and the inland towns, where connectivity needs more thought.

Why CaminhoIT

Someone who can be at the site this week.

The great majority of IT support is remote, and should be — it is faster for everyone. But when a switch fails, a cabinet needs rewiring, or a hotel needs its Wi-Fi tested under load, remote support has run out of road. Being in Faro is what makes the rest of the service credible.

Questions

IT support in the Algarve — common questions

Do you actually come out to sites, or is it all remote?

Both. Most support is remote because it is faster — a problem reported at nine is usually fixed before anyone could have driven anywhere. But we attend sites across the Algarve as a standing part of the service, for installations, surveys, hardware faults and anything physical. Our office is in Faro, so that is a normal working day rather than a special arrangement.

We only speak English. Is that a problem?

Not at all, and it is common here. We support clients in English and Portuguese, and for many international businesses in the Algarve that is the reason they came to us. Your team works in whichever language they prefer, and we deal with Portuguese suppliers, telecoms providers and paperwork on your behalf.

Our Wi-Fi is fine in winter and hopeless in August. Can you fix that?

Usually, and it is the single most common thing we are called about in this region. The cause is almost always that the network was designed against an empty building — Wi-Fi capacity is about how many devices compete for airtime, not signal strength. A survey under realistic load normally identifies it quickly, and the fix is best installed over the winter.

We are seasonal. Can support scale up and down?

Yes, and it should. Managed IT is normally priced per user or per device, so a business that runs 12 people in February and 40 in August should not be paying for 40 all year. What matters more is that seasonal accounts are created and — crucially — removed properly, which is where seasonal businesses accumulate most of their security risk.

How quickly can someone get to Lagos or Tavira?

The Algarve runs about 150km end to end, so honestly: an urgent visit to the far west or far east is a couple of hours, not twenty minutes. We plan around that rather than pretending otherwise — monitoring catches many faults before they stop work, spares are held where it makes sense, and routine on-site visits are scheduled. For genuinely critical sites at the ends of the region we will agree the arrangement in advance.

When should we plan work?

Between November and March for anything structural, finished before the season builds. Cabling and Wi-Fi work needs access to rooms and spaces that are occupied from spring onwards. If something has to be done in July we will find a way, but it will cost more and disrupt more than it needed to.

Ready to get started?

We can come and look at the site.

A survey tells you more than a quote does. We will walk the building, test what is there, and come back with what needs doing and when it should happen.
