Your standards. Our people on the ground.

Running a Portuguese office from another country works until something needs a person in the building. We are the local IT operation: English-speaking, aligned to how your group already works, and here.

What we handle locally

The part that has to happen in Portugal

Group IT can manage a tenant from anywhere. What it cannot do from another country is stand in front of a broken switch, argue with a Portuguese telecoms provider, or take a call in Portuguese from a supplier.

Local helpdesk

Support for your Portuguese team in their own time zone, in English or Portuguese, without routing through head office.

On-site attendance

Someone who can actually attend the site when a problem is physical rather than logical.

Device lifecycle

Procurement, enrolment, warranty, repair and disposal locally, to your group's device standard.

Site networking

Connectivity, firewall, switching and Wi-Fi for the Portuguese site, built to your group design.

Supplier management

We handle Portuguese telecoms and equipment suppliers, including the paperwork and the chasing.

Local procurement

Purchasing through your Portuguese entity with correct invoicing and VAT treatment.

Joiners and leavers

Local onboarding and offboarding executed against the group process, including device collection.

Security to your baseline

Your group's security standard applied here, so the Portuguese site is not the weak link in an audit.

Working with group IT

A defined split of responsibilities, agreed in writing, with a named contact on our side.

English documentation

Every record and report written in English and shared with your central team.

Meeting rooms

Teams room and conferencing equipment that works, because most of your meetings are with another country.

Data location

EU data residency confirmed and documented, which matters when group compliance asks.

The bridge

Between international management and local operations.

Most difficulty in multi-country IT comes from the gap between the two: group IT sets a standard but cannot execute it locally, and the local team improvises. We sit in that gap, working to your standard and reporting back in a way your central team can read.

  • A written split of responsibility between group IT and us
  • Your device build, naming and security baseline applied in Portugal
  • One Microsoft 365 tenant, extended — not a second one to reconcile later
  • Local escalation, so a problem in Faro is not a call to another time zone
  • Documentation and reporting in English, visible to your central team
  • Local invoicing and VAT treatment that satisfies your Portuguese entity

The challenge

Running a business across borders

Companies operating in Portugal from abroad need IT that works in both places and a partner who speaks both languages.

Suppliers and support only available in Portuguese

Bilingual support in English and Portuguese from the same team.

Head office systems that do not reach the Portuguese team

Shared Microsoft 365 tenants, devices and networks set up to one standard.

Uncertainty about GDPR and NIS2 obligations in Portugal

Practical guidance on the technical side of compliance.

No one local when hardware fails

On-site support in the Algarve and Alentejo, remote support everywhere else.

How we work

Fit into what already exists.

  1. Meet group IT

We start with your central team, not around them. Their standards, tooling and expectations set the shape of the service.

  2. Agree the split

Who owns what, how things escalate, and what we can act on without asking. Written down, so nobody has to remember it.

  3. Take it on

Local devices, network and users brought up to the group standard, with anything that falls short recorded honestly.

  4. Operate & report

Day-to-day local IT, with reporting your central team can read without needing a translation.

Why CaminhoIT

We work in both countries, so we speak both languages — in every sense.

We are a Portuguese company that also works with businesses in the UK. That means we understand what a British or northern European head office expects from an IT supplier, and we can also get a Portuguese telecoms provider to do something. Both matter.

  • English by defaultPortuguese when it helps
  • UK and Portugalwe know both ends
  • We adopt your standardrather than imposing ours
  • Local suppliersand the local paperwork
  • Actually hereon-site when it is physical
  • Reporting in Englishfor group oversight

Questions

Questions from international businesses

We already have a group IT team. What would you actually do?

The part that has to happen physically and locally. Group IT can manage identity, policy and the tenant from anywhere. What it cannot do remotely is attend a site, receive and prepare hardware, argue with a Portuguese telecoms provider, or support a Portuguese-speaking employee in their own language and time zone. We do those, to your standards, and stay out of the parts your team already owns.

Would you work inside our existing Microsoft 365 tenant?

Yes, and that is normally the right answer. A single tenant across the group is simpler to secure and support, and avoids a painful merge later. We work with scoped administrative access agreed with your team — often limited to the Portuguese users and devices — rather than requiring global rights.

Can you follow our security baseline rather than your own?

Yes, and we prefer to. A group that has already defined a device build, a security standard and a naming convention should not have a Portuguese site that quietly differs — that is exactly what turns up in an audit. Where your standard and Portuguese practicalities genuinely conflict, we will raise it rather than silently deviate.

Our Portuguese staff prefer Portuguese, our management needs English. Is that a problem?

It is the normal situation for our clients. Staff raise tickets and speak to engineers in whichever language they prefer; documentation, reporting and anything going to head office is in English. Nobody has to work in a second language to get help.

How does group IT see what is happening here?

Through the client portal: tickets, services, quotes, invoices and requests for the Portuguese entity, in one place, in English. Where your group uses its own service management tooling, we can work to that instead — several clients prefer everything in their own system.

We are only just setting up in Portugal. Is this the right page?

This page covers operating here. If you are still arriving — choosing a site, arranging connectivity, buying the first laptops — our IT project management page is more useful: we run that project, suppliers and contracts included, and then we support what we built.
