IT support in Porto
Remote-first IT, for businesses that already work that way.
We are based in Faro, not Porto, and we say that plainly. For cloud-based companies, exporters with people in several places, and firms that value security over proximity, remote-first managed IT is the better arrangement anyway.

The northern business mix
Where we fit in the north
Porto and the north have an export and manufacturing economy alongside a substantial technology sector — a different profile from the south, and one where questions about supply-chain security arrive early and in writing.
Exporters and international trade
Companies selling into the UK and northern Europe, whose customers increasingly send security questionnaires before placing orders. Answering those properly is work we do regularly.
Technology and digital firms
Cloud-native businesses with no servers and distributed staff, where a provider being nearby changes nothing about the service.
Manufacturing offices
The office and administrative side of production businesses — separated properly from the operational network, which is a design question rather than a proximity one.
Professional firms
Legal, accountancy and consulting practices where confidentiality, access control and evidence matter more than how close the supplier sits.
NIS2-affected supply chains
Businesses supplying organisations in scope of NIS2, who are being asked to demonstrate security controls they may not yet have documented.
Scaling companies
Firms growing past the point where IT is somebody’s side job and needing structure rather than call-outs.
Straight about the distance
Porto is 550km from our office. That matters for exactly one thing.
Physical attendance. Everything else in a modern managed service — monitoring, patching, device management, security, backup, the helpdesk — is delivered over the internet and is identical whether we are in the next street or the far end of the country. It is worth being precise about which is which.
- Identical: helpdesk, monitoring, patching, security, backup, Microsoft 365 management
- Identical: onboarding and offboarding, device provisioning, licence management
- Identical: response times, escalation, reporting and service reviews
- Different: physical installation, cabling and hardware swaps need a planned visit
- Different: we will not commit to same-day on-site response in the north
- Mitigated: devices ship pre-configured, and spares are planned where a site cannot wait
How we cover Porto
Remote-firstWe claim one office, in Faro. Everywhere else is a service area — described here as what it actually is, rather than dressed up as a local branch.
Why CaminhoIT
Useful if your customers are asking about security.
For exporters in the north, the pressure to improve IT security increasingly arrives from customers rather than regulators — a questionnaire attached to a purchase order, or a clause in a renewal. That work is documentation, configuration and evidence, all of which is done remotely, and it is a good part of what we do.
- Questionnaire helpanswered accurately
- Controls implementednot just described
- UK experienceuseful for exporters
- A client portaleverything visible
- Both languagesacross one team
- Clear about scopebefore you commit
Questions
IT support in Porto — common questions
Are you actually based in Porto?
No. We are in Faro, and we would rather say that than list a Porto address we do not occupy. Clients in the north are supported remotely, which for most modern IT is how the work is done regardless. On-site visits are arranged and priced when something genuinely needs a person there.
Should we not just use a Porto provider?
If you have on-premise servers, a large physical network, or need an engineer on site regularly — yes, and we will tell you so. If you are cloud-based, distributed, or mainly need the security and process side done properly, proximity is not buying you much and we may well be the better fit. It is worth asking any provider what proportion of their work genuinely requires them to be in your building.
A customer has sent us a security questionnaire. Can you help?
Yes, and it is increasingly common for exporters — particularly those supplying larger organisations or ones in scope of NIS2. We can answer the technical sections accurately, identify anything you cannot currently evidence, and put those controls in place. What we will not do is help you answer a question in a way that is not true.
How would onboarding work at this distance?
Discovery, monitoring deployment, documentation and security configuration are all remote. Where there is physical infrastructure worth seeing, we plan one visit at the start rather than several — and it is quoted openly in the proposal rather than absorbed and then recovered elsewhere.
Do you work in Portuguese?
Yes — we are a Portuguese company. Your team works in Portuguese, and English is available where you have international customers or a foreign parent. Documentation and reporting can be produced in either.
We have sites in the north and the south. Can you cover both?
Yes, and it is a good fit: one provider, one standard, one monitoring view. Southern sites get on-site attendance as standard, northern ones are remote-first with visits arranged. That is a better arrangement than two separate providers with two different ways of doing things.

One conversation is enough to establish it. If remote-first does not suit how you work, we will tell you in that conversation rather than later.
