When we are the wrong choice

Some Lisbon businesses should hire someone local. Genuinely.

We would rather say this on the website than three months into a contract. There are situations where a provider with an office in the city is simply the better answer, and pretending otherwise would not serve anyone.

  • You have on-premise servers that need regular physical attention
  • You expect an engineer on site weekly, or permanently based with you
  • You run a large office network with frequent physical moves and changes
  • You need same-hour on-site response as a contractual commitment
  • You are fitting out a new Lisbon office and need someone on site throughout
  • Where none of these apply, remote-first is usually faster and cheaper anyway

Why CaminhoIT

What you get instead of a nearby address.

Being remote-first is not a compromise we are apologising for — for a cloud-based business it is how the work is done best. What we bring is the things that are harder to find at our size: security built into the service, documentation you own, a client portal, and a team that will tell you when you do not need something.

  • Faster than a visitremote session, not a drive
  • Security includednot sold after an incident
  • A client portaleverything visible
  • Both languagesacross one team
  • Predictable pricingper user, per month

Questions

IT support in Lisbon — common questions

Do you have an office in Lisbon?

No. We have one office, in Faro, and we are not going to list a virtual address in Lisbon to look bigger — a practice common enough in this industry to be worth checking for in any provider you are considering. Lisbon clients are supported remotely, with on-site visits arranged and priced when something needs a person there.

Then why would we choose you over a Lisbon provider?

For a cloud-based business, the honest answer is that proximity buys you very little: devices are managed from the cloud, problems are fixed in a remote session, and an engineer arriving is slower than one connecting. What differentiates us is the service around that — security as part of the managed service rather than an upsell, a client portal, documentation you own, and a team small enough to know your environment. If proximity genuinely matters for your setup, a Lisbon provider is the right call and we will say so.

Can you come to Lisbon at all?

Yes, by arrangement — for onboarding, project work, an office move or an annual review. It is planned in advance and costed openly in the proposal rather than presented as though we are permanently nearby. What we will not do is commit to a same-day on-site response in Lisbon, because we could not keep that promise.

What if a laptop dies?

A replacement is shipped and configures itself when the user signs in — applications, policies, files and security all applied automatically. In practice that is usually faster than an engineer bringing one across a city, and it is how device management works now regardless of where the provider sits.

We have staff in Lisbon and in the Algarve. Does that work?

It works particularly well, and it is a common shape among our clients. Everyone gets the same remote service and the same standards, and the Algarve sites also get on-site attendance. One provider, one way of working, rather than a separate arrangement per location.

Do you support Portuguese-speaking staff?

Yes — we are a Portuguese company. Staff use whichever language they prefer, and documentation and reporting can be in either. For international businesses that combination is usually the point: Portuguese for the team, English for head office.

If remote-first suits your business we are a strong fit. If it does not, we will say so in the first conversation rather than the third.
